Nicky and Tam launch new series!

“Behind the Name”  a ten part documentary series focused on South Africa’s biggest showbiz personalities and their rise to fame, launched on eTV at 20h00 on 5th September, with Mandoza featured in the first episode and Marc Lottering in the second.

Written and narrated by Nicky Greenwall and produced and directed by documentary and film director Tamarin Kaplan, the series features never before seen footage, interviews and insights into some of the countries most famous faces.

“There are a lot of misconceptions about celebrity culture in SA, “ says Nicky. “Our famous faces aren’t necessarily as rich or as powerful as their overseas counterparts, but they do have a following. “Behind The Name” is an intimate look at the real people behind the fame.”

“We’re not planning go give viewers the basic biographies they can “google” off the Internet. We’re scratching beneath the surface to give them a deeply personal look at the life experiences of the celebrity up to this point,” adds Tamarin.

Each episode features in-depth interviews with a particular celebrity, his or her closest friends and family as well as colleagues and peers in the industry.  Marc Lottering,  Mandoza, Colin Moss, Kuli Roberts and Hlubi Mboya are among the names featured in the first series.

“Behind The Name” will show the pitfalls as well as the highs of being a star in the SA entertainment” says Nicky. “The people featured  are all established in SA pop culture. They’re well known - but we’ve never really heard their full stories.”

E-TV’s channel director Bronwyn Keene-Young says the new show is an extension of the already successful Showbiz Report brand. “It gives audiences a chance to get closer to their favourite local stars than ever before. We’re excited to finally show audiences the true story behind some of our most prominent personalities.”

“Behind The Name” is a tribute to the celebrity, but it’s also a way for them to express how they really feel about fame, life and their careers,” says Tamarin. “At the end of the program audiences will be thinking, “Wow, I never knew that!”

The show repeats on Thursdays at 12 noon. Don’t miss it!

A professionally made corporate video can provide a platform for companies to communicate a message, demonstrate a product in action or express techniques and ideas to staff in an interesting and dynamic way. Corporate videos can do all of this for a fraction of the cost, as the film becomes a contained medium through which a company's message or product becomes accessible to a wider audience in a shorter period of time. more info »
